Who we are
Auction Watch is the controller of the personal data described here. Contact us about anything in this notice at [email protected].
What we collect
- Waitlist. Your name, email address and the kind of buyer you say you are.
- Introductions. Your name, email address, the help you asked for, and any lot, address or note you add.
- Orders. Your email address, what you bought and when. Card payments are taken by Stripe: we never see or store your card number.
- Emails. Whether an email we sent was delivered, so that we can stop sending to addresses that fail.
- Technical data. Our hosting provider logs the IP address and browser of each request for security. We do not use it to identify you.
We do not buy data about you, and we do not build advertising profiles.
Why we use it, and the legal basis
- To send the reports and emails you have ordered: it is necessary for our contract with you.
- To send the launch email and any updates you signed up for: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To pass your details to a lender, solicitor or surveyor: your consent, given each time you ask for an introduction.
- To keep records of sales for tax, and to keep the site secure and free of abuse: legal obligation and our legitimate interests.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of companies to run the service. Each acts only on our instructions:
- Cloudflare: website hosting, security, and the check that a form was sent by a person.
- Supabase: the database that holds sign-ups and introduction requests.
- Stripe: card payments, subscriptions and the record of what you ordered.
- Our email delivery provider: sending reports and the emails you asked for.
If you ask for an introduction, we pass the details you gave us to the firm you asked to hear from, and to nobody else. We do not sell personal data. Some of these companies process data outside the UK; where they do, it is under the safeguards UK data protection law requires.
How long we keep it
- Waitlist details: until you unsubscribe, or 24 months after you last heard from us, whichever comes first.
- Introduction requests: 12 months.
- Order records: 6 years, because tax law requires it.
Cookies
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. The form check (Cloudflare Turnstile) and the checkout (Stripe) may set cookies that are strictly necessary for security and payment.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to stop or limit using it, and withdraw any consent you have given. Email [email protected] and we will reply within one month. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we change how we use personal data we will update this page and its date. If the change is significant and we hold your email address, we will tell you.
